The Classic Tour

1. Beach/Cottage & Mastodon Ridge Day
2. South Shore Day (Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg)
3. Downtown Halifax Day
4. Annapolis Valley Day

We love to host visitors from out-of-province. Each time they come I try to fine tune their experiences to suit their personalities and interests.

If I think that they might only make it out here once, or even if it's just their first time here, my husband and I like to start them off with "The Classic Tour."

Peggy's Cove

This tour encompasses the basic must-sees in and around the city. I should add that we are based in HRM (the Halifax Regional Municipality) so we tend to stick within a 3 hour drive radius for most of our tour experiences.

Our visitors typically visit over a long weekend and add an extra day, so I will do my tours in 4 day segments.

Day 1. Cottage/Beach Day (Closer to Home and Relaxing)

Mastodon Ridge
After a long drive or spending time on a plane we try and give our guests a day to relax while also getting to experience the beauty of the province.

Depending on who is visiting and what they prefer, we will usually take them to the family cottage or have a beach day. Our family cottage is out near Truro so I usually like to stop at Mastodon Ridge
(87 Main St W, Stewiacke, NS B0N 2J0, Canada). It's a fun little ice breaker rest stop area to get a coffee and walk around, take fun pictures, and be Half Way Between the North Pole and the Equator.

We'll spend a relaxing day catching up and have a BBQ lunch at the cottage or a picnic on the beach and then head home for games and a campfire.

Day 2. South Shore - Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg

Peggy's Cove is always a must see for first time and repeat visitors, especially on a nice day after a stormy day!

Day 3. Downtown Halifax Day

There is so much to do downtown Halifax, it's hard to capture it all in just one day, but if you only have one day and are doing the Classic Tour here is what we recommend:

a. Alexander Keiths Brewery Tour or your own tour of the Craft Breweries
b. Boardwalk Waterfront (Cow's Ice Cream!)
c. Citadel Hill
d. Point Pleasant Park
e. Public Gardens

Day 4. Annapolis Valley Day

Off to the Valley, there are so many beautiful things to see and do. Depending on how much time you have here are some suggestions:

a. Blomidon National Park mud flats
b. Cape Split (4 hour hike total, two to the peak and two back)
c. The Look Off (beautiful view off the side of the highway)
d. Vineyards
